Assignment 3 - Film trailer analysis
The genre of the movie is horror, drama, mystery. It is an adult film. It is PG13, as it is too terrifying for younger kids
There are different settings that add to the horror effect, throughout the film.The main setting is the average house that the family move into, throughout the film the house becomes more and more haunted. The family wear normal clothes to suggest that they're an average family when creepy things start happening. There are many mid shots and wide shots to show this. The captions are bold, creepy and demon like adding to the horror affect.
When the boy falls down the attic, the house becomes more haunted. There are creepy and mysterious scenes to portray all the scary things that are happening. There are many closeups to show the victims facial expressions to show that they're petrified and confused as to what is happening. There are a lot of high angle shots this shows that the victim is weak, helpless and confused.






There are many different props at the house that are haunted and move abnormally to showcase that everything the house is haunted.


The lighting in the film is mainly low-key suggesting that the film is scary and creepy. It adds to the mystery effect where something scary is going to happen.
The story line in the trailer has been told mainly in chronological order, they've created mystery by skipping a lot of scenes and adding exciting clips from the movie to make the audience want to watch more. There are a group of scary scenes that follow up on one another, adding a fast pace to the trailer.
The trailer reveals the locations very well with the help of lighting and props. There are many props that start moving abnormally and other paranormal activities start happening.
The parents try everything in their will to stop the paranormal, mysterious things from happening. Including inviting a professional to come in and investigate the area. The lady is old and professional she observes the house very carefully and realizes that the house isn't the problem.This is revealed through tense music and her facial expressions
There are bold captions in a creepy font to show what is going on and makes the trailer flow. The captions are often repeated so that it sticks in the audiences mind.
The cuts are very smooth and fast, showcasing everything at a fast pace. As the tension rises the pace increases so the audience don't know what will happen next
The music in the background is quite tense and fast, the music goes really well with the quick cuts. Some scenes are silent so that the audience is absorbed into the scene. Many of the scenes end in cliffhangers so that the audience wants to know what happens next.
